A 19th Century Burr Walnut Writing, Stationery Box. The top with an ogee profile, hinging to open to compartments, with cards for the days and months of the year held within maple wood fret cut panels. The sloping front formed by a pair of doors, opening likewise to tiered compartments with maple wood fret cut fronts, falling to a pen tray and ink bottle compartments. The door lined with maple fret cut faced compartments, the lower body with a slide out drawer, opening to for a writing slope with a pen tray. The whole with good brass escutcheon, hinges and flush drawer handle. Complete with lock and key. Date circa 1850. Height 14 inches, 35cm. Width 13 inches, 33cm. Depth 10 inches, 25cm.Ref: 23748
