A Late 18th Century Mahogany Apothecary Chest. With a brass swan neck carrying handle, above a front with a pair of doors, opening to hold a complete set of bottles, in three tiers within each door. The body containing, again, the complete set of bottles, over three short drawers, each with pairs of sliding covers. The middle drawer holding scales and weights, whilst the lower drawer holds a glass mortar and pestle, pewter cup measure and potion cups. The rear with a sliding panel revealing a further complete set of bottles. The chest edged with rounded caddy mouldings, and a rounded foot rim. Complete with lock, key and catches. The very best mahogany! Date circa 1780. Height 12 1/2 inches, 32cm. Width 10 1/4 inches, 26cm. Depth 7 1/2 inches, 19cm.
