An Edwardian Satinwood Cutlery Urn.

The urn of classical vase shape.  The rising lid, (held on a ratchet column) topped by a vase finial, and sweeping down in an ogee and concave bands, to the vertical edges, finished with a bead rim.  The main body with a bead rim top edge, tapering downward to a ring socle, and spreading ogee and ring base.  The whole raised on a square plinth with four ogee bracket feet.  The urn decorated with ebony and boxwood chequered stringing. The interior with stepped levels with apertures for cutlery, the levels crossbanded in kingwood.

Date c 1900.
