An Unusual Tea Caddy. The large Tea Caddy, with an octagonal top, inlaid with a parquetry pattern of specimen woods, within a rosewood banding, edged with boxwood stringing. The top hinging open to a pair of tea containers, each with a cross banded and inlaid edge, surrounding a parquetry inlaid centre, opening to silver paper lined interiors. The octagonal rosewood body with cross banded and inlaid decoration, as per the top and tea containers, whilst the whole is raised up on tapering sabre legs, sweeping from the arcaded frieze. Complete with lock and key. Date circa 1810. Height 11 inches 28cm. Width 13 inches, 33cm. Depth 10 1/2 inches, 26.5cm.
