18TH C TOLE TEA CADDY

A Late 18th Century Tole Tea Caddy. With a raised and chamfered central panel to the lid, mounted with a gilt brass scrolled leaf handle. The lid decorated with flowers and scrolling leaves, within hatched borders. The lid opening to a pair of mahogany and boxwood strung tea compartments, each with a sliding cover. The body decorated with borders of scrolling foliage, enclosing flower decorated panels. The caddy stamping on bracket joining a pierced entwined frieze. Date circa 1780. Height 5 1/2 inches, 14cm. Width 9 1/4 inches, 23.5cm. Depth 5 1/4 inches, 13.5cm.
