A Good Mid 19th Century Bronze Albani Vase. The rim with a beaded and egg and dart detail, above a vine leaf decorated collar. The body well cast with masks of men, each different and set amongst drapery of lion skins. The lower part of the main body cast with spreading leaves, and the vase mounted on a gadrooned and fluted spreading circular socle. The vase mounted with entwined vine branches to form the handles.
Excellent quality detail and patination.
After the original vase in the Villa Albani, Florence. The Albani Vase was discovered in the grounds of a villa in Rome, during a dig sponsored by Cardinal Albani.
