A good and substantial 19th Century brass door stop, door porter, in the form of a horse's hoof. The handle with scrolled ends emerging from a ring and ball centre. The shank finished at the bottom with a spreading ring socle above the base cast as a horse's hoof, with horse shoe. The hoof engraved and chased at the ankle and with a registration mark for May 1881. The interior with conforming cast iron loading.
H 16 1/2 inches; w 4 1/2 inches; d 5 1/2 inches.
