A Pair of Early 19th Century Tole Chestnut Vases. Each with a lift off cover, the covers with a finial top over the spire, sweeping outward toward the rim. The covers decorated with reeding before the broadening spires decorated with darted and swagged panels, filled with classical vases. The decoration repeated to the tops of the vases, the bodies tapering to rising and overlapping leaves, before the stems, spreading into the circular foot, with darted decoration. The vases mounted with pairs of lion mask ring handles. Date circa 1810. Height 12 1/4 inches, 16cm. Width 6 1/4 inches, 16cm. Depth 5 1/2 inches, 14cm.
