A Pair of Early 19th Century Chestnut Vases. Each with a navette and crescent shaped cover, rising in a spire to an orb finial. The vases of conforming shape, tapering into a ring socle, and thence the waisted stem, spreading to an oval foot with concave banding. The vase with lion mask ring handles. The gilt decoration in the oriental taste, with scenes of tea houses in a garden and a tree filled landscape. The vase rims with bands of flowing and scrolling foliage within lattice borders. In very good original condition. Date circa 1800. Height 13 1/2 inches, 34cm. Width 7 1/2 inches, 19cm. Depth 4 1/2 inches, 12cm.
