18TH C DELFT JAR

A Mid 18th Century Delft Jar and Cover. The rather eccentric brass cover with a ball finial, over the rounded and waisted spire, spreading into a circular body, with stepped and concave profile banding. The cover fitting within the outward turned rim of the jar, the ovoid body tapering to the foot, with a slightly concave underside. The body decorated with attractive flowers and leaves amongst scrolling branches. The centre tile 'TABAC PARIS'. Date circa 1760. Height 17 inches, 43cm. Width 10 inches, 25cm. Depth 10 inches, 25cm.
