An 18th Century Delft Strawberry or Cress Bowl.

The octagonal rim with a bow shaped edge, sweeping down to the flat centre, pierced with a flower pattern, surrounded by dotted holes and bowed holes, the whole to allow the movement of air, or drainage of washed cress.  The body painted with eight panels, from the rim tapering toward the centre, with alternating decoration of wild flowers.  The centre with a star burst, between which flowers grow.  The underside of the rim with seaweed decoration, the bowl standing on three tapering outward curved feet.

Date c 1750.

Height 2 3/4 inches, width 9 inches, depth 9 inches.
