18TH C MANGANESE CHARGER

An 18th Century Delft Manganese Charger. The rim edge with a manganese line, surrounding a background of manganese stipple sponge decoration, against which sit diamond shaped reserves filled with flowers and leaves. Amongst these reserves are blooming flower heads. The centre with an octagonal panel decorated with a church, with a flag topped tower, set within a rural landscape, with clouds above, and two sailing boats in the background. The rear with a raised foot rim, surrounded by dash decoration. Date c 1740. Height 1 3/4 inches, diameter 13 1/2 inches.
