An Early 18th Century Delft Flower Brick. The delft brick with a slightly raised rim, surrounding a top with two panels each of nine stalk holes, the stalk holes ringed with beaded decoration. The centre a square bulb or watering hold. The body painted in the oriental style, with scenes of a fisherman, standing on a river bank, with a tea house, and trees rising in the background. The ends painted with fisherman holding landing nets. Date c 1730. Height 2 3/4 inches, 7cm. Width 4 3/4 inches, 12cm. Depth 2 inches, 5cm.
