Delftware/Ceramics >> Early 19th C Meat Plate
A Large Early 19th Century Ironstone Meat Plate, the octagonal rim decorated with lattice, diamond and flower border, and the inner edge of the rim with a band of rocks intersperced with petal head and leaf reserves.
The centre of the plate well decorated with pagodas, houses and temples set amongst trees on a lakeside, with 8 fishing and sailing boats on the lake, with mountains and trees int he background.
The rear of the plate finished with comb back.
Has a rather naive and appealing form of decoration, very much of the European trying to copy the Orient and with a good deep, gutsy colour.
