An early 19th century Pastille or Incense Jar. 


The bell shaped cover with a spired button finial, above the sloping sides pierced with a series of venting holes.  The cover lifting off to reveal a second flatter bun handled lid.  The body of the jar, of baluster vase shape, with  recessed underside.  The body mounted with a pair of scroll handles. The whole attractively painted in an oriental garden theme, with flowers and trees emerging from a garden bordered by a fence.  The decoration in reds, ochre, blue and gilt.

In very good condition.


Date c 1830.


Height 7 1/2 inches, width 5 1/4 inches, depth 4 3/4 inches.
