A Large Pair of Imari Vases and Covers. The bell shaped covers, topped with substantial Phoo Dog finials, the covers with reeding, sweeping outward to the overhanging rims. The melon shaped bodies with likewise reeding, tapering to slightly raised foot rims. The whole intensely decorated with flowers and scrolling foliage, between panels and reserves depicting garden vases filled with a profusion of flowers, and other circular reserves filled with exotic birds swooping on insects amongst trailing foliage. Date c 1870. Height 20 inches, width 11 1/2 inches, depth 11 1/2 inches.Ref: 21152
