A Pair of 19th Century Terracotta Lions with Painted and Glazed Decoration. Each fierce lion, standing on his hind legs, rampant, and roaring, as he clasps a castellated tower, with a scrolled cartouche facing. The lions standing on naturalistic ground, raised on oval plinths, the towers hollow, to form a vase or candle holder. Date circa 1850. Height 16 inches, 41ccm. Width 10 1/2 inches, 27cm.
