A very large 18th century Imari Vase. The raised collar above a bold baluster shaped body, tapering to a foot rim.
The collar painted with large blooms set between flowing leaves. The shoulders painted with a variety of large flowers, between scrolled bell borders.
The body with panels enclosing scenes of a garden, with tea houses, a man crossing a garden bridge, all within a tree and flower filled garden. In the background are hills, on which stand further houses.
These panels alternate with panels depicting a garden, with flowers and plants, set amongst a staggered fence.
The lower border repeating the flower and leaf decoration of the collar.
The whole in the traditional Imari palette, with some gilt highlighting.
