A 19th century Mahogany Gainsborough Chair. The arch top back rest, slightly backward raked, and meeting the pair of arms, with upholstered elbow rests, before the rounded and scrolled hand holds, the scrolls continuing to swept supports, the scrolls broadening to meet the upholstered seat. The Chair raised up on scrolled channel moulded legs, with leaf and pendant carved decoration to the knees. The legs tapering to scrolled toes. The rear legs with a rearward curve to the square section. Height 41 3/4 inches, 106cm. Width 28 1/4 inches, 72cm. Depth 27 inches, 69cm. Circa 1850
