A 19th Century Open Armchair. The chair with arch topped back rest, upholstered in the original needlework, in the form of a vase, filled with a profusion of flowers. The central scene within a scrolling leaf and flower border. The seat with likewise a scene of a basket filled with an abundance of flowers, and likewise within a scrolled leaf and flower border. The arms with needlework elbow rests in the form of trailing leaves. The slightly curving arms, with channel moulds, highlighted in gilt against a cream ground. The frame with a channel mould profile, the frieze centred by a carved cartouche and spreading flowers. The moulding and cartouche highlighted in gilt against a cream ground as the legs sweep in a slight taper to the scrolled toes. Date circa 1850. Height 41 1/2 inches, 103cm. Width 27 inches, 69cm. Depth 25 inches, 64cm.
