The 19th C. mahogany and marquetry inlaid table with a circular top. The top inlaid with boxwood, nettlewood and kingwood, depicting a mask of Priapus, god of flowers, surrounded by a profusion of flowers and foliage emerging from a classical vase. Birds perch amongst the foliage, whilst butterflies flit around the flowers. The scene surrounded by scrolling leaves, from which mythological beasts appear. The whole enclosed within a scrolled leaf border. The inset frieze inlaid with pairs of scrolled flowers from which flowers and leaves issue. The octagonal stem with waisted shaping and an ogee collar, inlaid with panels of hanging flowers. The concave profile base, running to turret corner ends, above rounded feet holding castors. The base likewise decorated with inlaid spreading and rising flowers. Height: 30.5 inches Width: 33 inches Depth: 33 inches c. 1850
