A good and unusual George II walnut and gilt mirror. The early 18th century mirror with a carved gilt wood leaf edged cartouche within an architectural pediment, decorated with egg and dart mouldings. The body with a raised gilt egg and dart moulding, finished with turret corners, surrounding an inner leaf decorated slip, holding the original bevelled plate. The whole against a burr walnut ground. The mirror unusual in that it has a tapered/pylon shaping to the body. Date circa 1720. Height 48 1/2 inches, 123cm. Width 25 1/2 inches, 65cm. Depth 4 inches, 10cm.
