A Regency Gilt Convex Mirror. The pediment with a carved eagle, wings outstretched, perching on a rectangular capped spreading reeded pedestal. The pedestal surrounded by scrolling and rising flowers, and foliage emerging from rocks. The body of the mirror with a flat facing and rounded mould edge, sweeping into a corvette mould filled with a twisting rope, andt hence a stepped inner moulding. The original convex plate held within an ebonized slip. The bottom of the mirror decorated with carved scrolling leaves complimenting the pediment. Date c 1820. Height 48 inches, width 27 inches, depth 8 1/2 inches.Ref: 20940
