An Early 19th Century Marble Lion. The lion, in the from of the Medici Lion, originally in the Villa Medici, Rome, and now in Florence in the Piazza Della Signoria. The beast stands with his exuberant ,mane, looking forward and slightly to one side, a front paw holding a large ball, his tail curling between his hind legs. The beast on a conforming plinth, carved in a chequered lattice, with rocky edges. Date c 1830. Height 7 inches, width 9 1/2 inches, depth 3 1/2 inches.
