A 19th Century Papier Mache Tray or Basket

The raised sloped sides, curving slightly outward, and rising to each end.  The sides decorated in gilt with a bank of continuous open leaf square panels, above a broad band of petal head lattice decoration. 

The underside stamped for 'CLAY, 18 KING STREET, COVENT GARDEN'.  Henry Clay made papier mache for George III and the Prince of Wales.

Date c 1815.
