A 19th Century Rosewood Ballot Box. The ballot box with a ring loop top handle, above the cylindrical body, mounted with an ogee shaped protruding collar through which a voter would put his hand and ball. The body held with scrolled brackets, above a stepped and ogee mould plinth, set with a drawer, into which the black and white balls fall. The whole raised on four compressed ball feet. Complete with voting balls. Height 14 inches, 35cm. Width 10 1/2 inches, 27cm. Depth 11 inches, 28cm. Date circa 1840.
