A 19th Century String Box, String Barrel. The lignum vitae string box with a pear shaped finial, fitted with a cutting blade. The screw off lid, slightly dome shaped, in a series of rounded steps, to the rounded rim. The lid with a string hole below the cutting blade. The cylindrical body resting on a concave edged plinth base. Date c1850. Height 6 1/2 inches, width 4 1/2 inches, depth 4 1/2 inches.Ref:
