Early 19th Century Tole Box. The slightly domed centre of the lid, edged with a chamfered surround, the lid hinging open to a scarlet decorated interior. The body of the box with straight sides, finished with an ogee foot rim. The box decorated to simulate gilt lacquer work, the lid showing a pheasant amongst flowers and foliage. The scene surrounded by further flowers, and rococo scrolls, the decoration repeated to all sides of the body. Date circa 1820. Height 2 3/4 inches, 7cm. Width 10 inches, 25cm.
