MID 19TH C CAST IRON LION

A Mid 19th Century Cast Iron Lion. The 'Medici Lion' with head raised and emerging from his extravagant mane, as he stands, holding an orb under his front right paw. His tail sweeps under his legs, as the lion is mounted on a rectangular plinth. After the original now in The Loggia Dei Lanzi, Florence. Date circa 1840. Height 6 3/4 inches, 7.5cm. Width 9 1/4 inches, 23.5cm. Depth 3 inches, 8cm.
