A 19th Century Lamp Base. The lamp with a gilt brass collar, decorated with rising and falling leaves. The stem of the lamp of coloured and overlaid glass, with chamfered panels to the baluster shaping. The panels decorated with flowers and leaves. The stem finished with a ring socle, resting on the gilt brass base, decorated with scrolling leaf filled octagonal panels, sweeping outward to a gadrooned and scrolling flower rim. The whole raised up on scrolled and spreading leaf feet. The underside with a conforming cast iron loading, impressed 'RATCLIFFE, BIRMINGHAM'. In very nice original condition. Date circa 1850. Height 14 1/2 inches, 36cm to collar. Width 6 1/2 inches, 17cm. Depth 6 1/2 inches, 17cm.Ref: 22794
