A 19th Century Mahogany Stick Barometer. With a concave and convex stepped pediment, over the silvered barometric pressure dial, with pressure indices to the right, and weather indication to the left. A sliding cursor operated by the cursor knob just below the glazed front. The body mounted with a bow fronted and glazed silvered thermometer with two indices, being Fahrenheit and Reaumur. The thermometer casing held with ogee and concave brackets. The case finished with a circular reservoir, and rounded cistern cover. The dial engraved for the maker ‘Desbois, Gray’s Inn Passage, London’. Date circa 1850. Height 38 inches, 96cm. Width 4 ½ inches, 11.5cm. Depth 2 ½ inches, 6.5cm.
