An 18th Century Delft Food Warmer. The food warmer with a bell shaped cover, centred by a knob finial and decorated with a rural scene of a girl milking a goat. The cover enclosing a lift out food bowl, decorated to the raised rim with spreading flowers. The cylindrical body mounted with a cherub mask, above the arcaded candle aperture. The aperture decorated with drapery, flowers and rising leaves. The rear decorated with a romantic rural scene of tow lovers conversing in a garden, beside a river, with a village in the background. Date circa 1740. Height 9 3/4 inches, 25cm. Width 5 1/4 inches, 14cm. Depth 5 1/4 inches, 14cm.
