A 19th Centre Dish. With a lattice basket rim, finished with scrolled handles to each end. The dish sweeping inward and downward, to meet the concave profile spreading foot. The dish decorated with rural scenes, within reserves, depicting variously, a couple conversing on the lawns of a grand house, a couple chatting by a fence, a mother and child walking home to their cottage, and a couple talking as they gather corn in a field with sheep, before a ruined folly. These reserves against a flower filled ground, surrounding the central scene of figures meeting in a garden, beside a river, beyond which stand a grand Italian palazzo. The underside of the dish titled 'Italian Scenery'. Date circa 1850. Height 3 1/4 inches, 8.5cm. Width 11 1/2 inches, 29cm. Depth 8 1/2 inches, 21.5cm.Ref:
