A Large 19th Century Mug with Fabulous Handle.
The rim of the mug with and upper band of gilt and rust coloured fish scale decoration, above a second band of gilt lattice decoration, from which hang swags of fine flowers. The body with a large circular reserve, entwined with flowers and centred by a wild rose and foliage. The reserve flanked by two further groups of flowers. The base of the body with green and gilt dotted banding. The mug mounted with a double strand entwined reed handle, finished to the body with flower in relief.
Probably a quart size.
Date c 1840.
Height 6 1/4 inches, width 6 3/4 inches, depth 4 3/4 inches.
