A Substantial 19th Century Satsuma Vase. With an outswept rim, with a scallop and folded edge. The concave neck decorated with panels of rising and spreading flowers, against a lattice ground, and between borders of petal heads. The decoration continued to the shoulders of the vase, and alternating with reserves filled with pairs of doves, wading cranes, and butterflies. The main body with scenes of courtiers and attendants on the edge of a garden. Intensely decorated and highlighted in gilt. Cover restored. Date circa 1870. Height 17 1/4 inches, 44cm.
