A large mid-19th Century meat plate by Pountney and Allies. The octagonal, scallop-cornered rim decorated with wild flowers hung between harebell swags. The central scene bordered by a band of scrolled anthemion and depicting the harbour at Bristol. The scene showing the busy port with men in conversation by a rowing boat in the foreground. A brig sails in the port which is criss-crossed with rowing boats and lighters. To each side of the river numerous ships are docked or being repaired. St Mary Redcliffe Church, and other prominent buildings, rise above the port. The rear with transfer mark "Bristol" within a swagged cartouche.
