Early 19th Century Silver Mounted Jug by Turner. With a domed and hinge cover, opening with a rounded and fluted thumb grip. The cover meeting the silver collar and spout, over a tall horizontally reeded neck, before the rounded body, decorated in relief with hanging vine leaves and grapes, enclosing a scene of huntsmen enjoying a drink at a pub. The scene surrounded by trees and flowers, likewise in relief. The lower body decorated to simulate a gathered basket. The cover and collar hallmarked for Joseph Taylor, Sheffield 1799. The underside of the jug impressed 'TURNER' for John Turner of Stoke and Longton, 1737 - 1835. Height 9 1/2 inches, 24cm. Width 7 inches, 18cm. Depth 5 3/4 inches, 14.5cm.Ref:
