A George III, Mid 18th Century Mahogany Torchere. With a circular top finished with a raised rounded mould edge, above the elegant stem, tapering outward and downward to an elongated baluster. The stem of hexagonal shaping, with dished and rounded sides, finished with collar, and a concave and spread socle, above the downward and outward swept legs, with a rounded top side decorated with a fine mould edge. The legs sweeping to a rounded toes, set with pairs of ringed and domed paterae. Height 34 1/2 inches, 88cm. Width 17 1/2 inches, 44cm. Depth 17 1/2 inches, 44cm. Date c 1770.Ref: 21838
