An 18th century oil portrait on an oak panel, showing King Louis XIII of France. The elegant monarch, with long curling hair, a neatly trimmed moustache and beard, standing to face the viewer.. He wears an elaborate lace collar, over a vented sleeve red doublet and breaches, tucked into suede riding boots and spurs. The dress finished with a blue sash, and sword, as he holds a tall swagger stick in his right hand, his dog looking up to him. The panel held within a carved giltwood frame, decorated with outward folding and rounded leaves meeting a stepped leaf outer edge, and to the inner edge a stepped and concave slip. Height 13 inches, 33cm. Width 11 inches, 28cm. Depth 1 1/4 inches, 3cm. Circa 1760Ref: 24144
