18TH C CARVED OAK LION

An 18th Century Carved Oak Lion. The beast standing on his haunches, his roaring head clothed with an exuberant curling mane, as he holds a scrolling armorial cartouche in his front paws. The whole on a small square plinth base. Date circa 1760. Height 11 1/2 inches, 30cm. Width 5 inches, 13cm. Depth 5 inches, 13cm.
