Miscellaneous >> 19TH C CHEESE COASTER
An early 19th century Mahogany Cheese Coaster. The boat shaped body, finished to either end with reeded handles, with bulls eye paterae. The body with a division, the rims finished with reeded moulds, as is the base moulding.
The cheese coaster on four small brass castors, making it easy to move around the dining table. A large round cheese, or 'truckle' would be placed in one division on its side, making it easy to slice a piece off and crackers would be put in the smaller division. Still a useful piece today.
