A 19th Century Thermometer. The thermometer measuring the temperature to one side of the scale, and to the other an indication of the temperature, i.e. 'FREEZING', 'SUMMER HEAT', 'BLOOD HEAT'. The thermometer against a marble obelisk, the dial surrounded by specimen marbles. The obelisk on a plinth with a rounded edge cap, above a frieze inlaid with blooming flowers, above a stepped base. Height 15 inches, 38cm. Width 5 1/4 inches, 13cm. Depth 3 3/4 inches, 10cm. Date circa 1850.
