The mid 19th century Papier Mache Tray by Jennens and Bettridge. The Tray of scallop shape, know as King-gothic, the rim facing with a gilt line banding, surrounding the concave sides, decorated with bands of gilt inward facing leaves, enclosing a broader band of flower heads over a hatched ground. The decoration and rim before the flat centre. The rear of the Tray impressed for "Jennens and Bettridge" The shape and form of the Tray illustrated in "Japanned Papier Mache and Tinware c1740-1940" by Yvonne Jones,....An excellent book. Height 1 3/4 inches, 4cm. Width 31 inches, 79cm. Depth 24 inches, 61cm. Circa 1840
