A George II Silver Tankard. The tankard with an outswept and banded rim, surrounding hanging icicles, within a scallop border. The baluster shaped body decorated with repousse wild flowers, falling to a scallop border and against a chased background. The tankard sweeping into a waisted socle, spreading to a stepped circular foot, the tankard with a scrolled handle, topped with a scrolled thumb grip. The interior silver gilted. Hallmarked for Richard Bayley, London 1748. Height 4 3/4 inches, 12cm. Width 5 inches, 13cm. Depth 3 1/2 inches, 9cm.
