19TH C COUNTRY SPORT JUG

A 19th Century Jug. The jug with a raised and outswept rim, meeting the broad spout. The spout and rim decorated in raised relief, with spreading leaves, with gilt highlighting. Teh angular handle, likewise with leaf and anthemion gilt decoration. The rounded body with a scene of a gentleman hare coursing, as he holds a hare, whilst his greyhounds stand beside him. The other side of the jug decorated with a gentleman at a burrow with his two terriers. The body tapering to a rounded foot rim with gilt banding. Date circa 1830. Height 9 3/4 inches, 25cm. Width 8 1/2 inches, 22cm. Depth 6 1/4 inches, 16cm.
